February 2009 -- Middletown Historical Society NewsFebruary Historical Society Meeting: The February meeting of the Middletown Historical Society will be on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 7:30pm. Jay and Wende Greene have graciously invited us to have our meeting this month at their house, the Biggs Mansion, at 210 North Cass Street . After a short business meeting, we will hear Middletown High School art teacher Brian Miller talk about Victorian and vintage valentines. Parking is available on street and also behind the Old Academy at 216 North Broad Street. Peach Festival: Peach Festival meetings are already underway on the last Monday of each month. Brian Rickards has agreed to be 2009 co-chair with Dave Matsen. Join the committee and become active in planning this year's Peach Festival! Call 378-8265 for more information. Current Museum Display: The current museum display on educating early Middletonians is now open twice a month, the first Saturday from 9am to noon and the third Wednesday from noon to 4pm. If those times don't suit your schedule, we are always glad to open by appointment by calling 740-5544. 2009 Dues: The 2009 dues of $10 per person and $20 per family are now past due. Please send them to the Middletown Historical Society at P.O. Box 567, Middletown, DE 19709. Feel free to bring your dues (check or cash) to the February meeting. March Historical Society Meeting: The March meeting will be at the Old Academy on Tuesday, March 17th at 7:30pm. The public is invited.
